Infield Drills:

  • Triangle Drill (with rolled balls)

    • fielding the ball in front, even the balls not directly at you.

    • quick transfer (not quite to throwing position)

    • final ball moving your feet toward the target

 

  • Rounding Off Grounders (Footwork Drill)

    • This drill focuses on charging the ball and moving the feet

    • Rounding off the grounder to establish momentum toward the target

    • Fielding the ball in the triangle position

    • Getting your feet moving toward the target before throwing

 

  • Putting It All Together

    • Moving your feet

    • Rounding off the grounder

    • Fielding it with two hands with a wide base in a triangle position

    • Field, right, left, throw (righties) with quick transfer to throwing position

    • Field, left, right, throw (lefties) with quick transfer to throwing position

    • Moving the feet toward the target
