For the past several months Monomoy Youth Baseball and Nauset Little League have met, zoomed, and emailed, having many discussions focusing on how to enjoy more community youth baseball together.  The two programs played each other in several cross-league games over the past summer, players and families relished playing one another and ideas started to formulate for the Outer Cape to build a future of youth baseball together.

Beginning in 2022, the Nauset and Monomoy youth baseball programs will join forces to offer regional youth baseball for our communities to play in together.  The merger of programs will provide more resources, volunteers, and competition for baseball on the Outer Cape.  Board members of both programs cited the need to merge as the pandemic, other sports opportunities, and a diminishing family population on the Cape have reduced participant numbers over the past few years.

Many details are still in the works, including a new league name, but a newly formed Board of Directors has begun the tasks of preparing for the upcoming season together.  “What is most important for every member of the Board is keeping youth baseball vibrant and fun for our current players and enticing for new participants as well”, the Board of Directors said in a joint statement.

More details will be coming out soon as well as registration for winter youth baseball clinics, which will begin in January.
